Actor Neil Nitin Mukesh, who has come a long way since his acclaimed debut Johnny Gaddar, feels that there is a lot of gap that Bollywood needs to make up. Neil was refereeing to the standard of technology being used in the Hollywood movies. When quizzed about the level at which Bollywood stands in comparison to Hollywood, Neil replied in a frank tone saying the technology being used in Bollywood is just not at that standard of Hollywood.

He referred to the term technology, wherein key elements such as processing or screenplay are included. Citing the example of Superman, which was made 30 years ago in Hollywood he compared it to the recent successful action movie of Bollywood Krrish highlighting the gap Bollywood needs to make up to meet the Hollywood standard. Neil also stated the important point of audience acceptance. Audience in Hollywood has received these films, based on an ‘ahead of its time’ theme extremely well. While the movie watchers in Bollywood, are still coming to terms with these action films.

Explaining the role a critic plays in downplaying films, he mentioned how most critics today try to influence the audience today by making a certain impression about a movie. Putting the forth the essential point of quality, he argued that an audience will only be used to what is provided to them. If the quality of the film is better, audience will certainly appreciate it. He feels Bollywood needs to step up now to the next level and raise the bar of quality.

Neil was in a perfect position to comment on the issue of technology, as he himself has done a lot of stunts in his forthcoming movie Players. The movie stars Abhishek Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor, Bipasha Basu and Bobby Deol apart from Neil. The movie is slated for a January 6 release.
