Those flared skirtsworn by women in the 1950s are coming back with spring-summer 2011 fashions. Some of the first signs of this coming trend were exhibited by the many flared skirts present at ?stanbul Fashion Week.

You may well remember those flared skirts that would make you want to turn and spin when wearing them when you were little. They have always been a favorite, actually. And though flared skirts are a memory from our childhood, the fact is that their history stretches all the way back to the 1950s, to the post-war period.

In fact, at that time, flared skirts were a sort of cult clothing. The way they sit on the waist and their incredible ability to flare out make a great contribution to a general ladylike appearance of the woman wearing them. In any case, if all of this talk of flared skirts fills any of you with longing, let me immediately offer up the good news: Flared skirts are making a return this spring. So much so that the collections of many famous world brands feature flared skirts in their spring and summer collections this year. Not only that, but these skirts come in all sorts of colors, styles and designs.

Some of the labels carrying flared skirts for the coming season include Preen, Chloe, Jil Sander, Bottega Veneta, Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, Rochas and Etro. Interestingly, it appears that flared skirts have invaded fashions in France, America and Italy, and what’s more, they are getting longer and longer.
